Few years ago I had a blog that I kept for a while. I think that it would be splendid to re-post an old post every Friday for a little while.
May 8, 2008:
We had a lovely day yesterday, just by accident. Although it was BC day and a long weekend it didn't feel as such since Daddy was working. But that all changed when he finished his work early. It was only 3 pm and sunny, so what was a nice family to do on such a lovely day? WHITE ROCK!!!!! Funky Monkey loves to look out at the water when we walk down the palisade. Girly Monkey, on the other hand, enjoys seeing the people walking by. How could two such different kids come from the same mom and dad
We parked the car and crossed the train tracks. The tide was on it's way back up so no chance of playing in the sand. We chose to walk down to the pier instead. With Girly Monkey on my back we were briskly walking, but took our time to stop end take in the scenery and splash in the water. Now White Rock beach is ocean water, so it's full of seaweed. That's fine with all of us except Funky Monkey. Seaweed is his biggest fear second only to bugs. Now you combine the two and you get White Rock beach water. Poor guy screamed like a girl few times when he thought that the flies and the seaweed joined forces to make his trip a living nightmare! He opted out to sit on a log near by and play with rocks instead.
Girly Monkey is a different story; seaweed or not she splashes in the water and loves it. She squealed with delight a few times when the waves hit her toes. We had to make sure that neither one of the kiddos got their clothes wet since we had plans to go for dinner. I chose The Boathouse. Although expensive that place has the best food. Plus that is where we ate diner minutes before Daddy proposed to me on the pier. Ah memories ...
We chose the patio for our dinner seating since it was sunset time, plus we didn't have to wait as long for the seats. It was so nice. And the food delicious, as always. Funky Monkey liked his fresh fish and chips, ad Girly Monkey loved the wild salmon. It's so nice to go out once in a while.
