This is what a full term baby in my belly looks like! |
This week I have been very busy with parent viewing at the Monkeys' dance school. I always really enjoy coming to the parent viewing days and seeing all the progress that they have made. It always surprises me how much they have learned. It was a bit of a juggling act to be there for all 5 classes. Grandma was nice enough to look after the boys one day so that I could watch Girly Monkey's ballet class. Her class is full of kids, so I knew that bringing boys into a class already full of watching parents was a bad idea. But since Funky Monkey's classes are not as full then it was fine to bring Girly Monkey and Little Monkey to it. Plus grandma was already looking after then for my Gestational Diabetes clinic visit. I really didn't want to bother her any more. She has been such a great help to me already.
The good news this week is that Girly Monkey seems to be responding well to antibiotics and she is getting better. She still has no voice and coughs when she runs or jumps too much, but at least she doesn't have coughing fits that lead to her throwing up. On a bad note, Little Monkey started being sick last night. It started off with him being just a little warm at bed time. By the morning he was burning up with fever and feeling miserable. And today was a day with 2 parent viewings, so he had to come with me. I could have called Grandma and asked her to stay with him at home, but today was also a day of great-Grandparents' dinner and I didn't want Grandma to give Little Monkey's sickness to great-Grandparents. We opted out of going to great-Grandparents for dinner too, mainly because if Girly Monkey had such a tough time with this bug I was really worried that it could be even more serious to elderly great-Grandparents. Last thing I would want would be to have them end up in hospital from influenza that we brought into their house.
Decision to stay home and miss dinner at great-Grandparents' house was really hard to make since this was going to be the last time Daddy's Grandparents were going to have a dinner at their place before they moved out. I really wanted to go. Monkeys were also very excited to go and see their great-Grandparents and all their cousins. They have been looking forward to it for few days now. I really hated to disappoint them, but I had to do the "parent thing" and make a grown-up decision that was in the best interest of all involved.
My biggest worry is that this bug will still be around when Monkey In-Waiting arrives and that I will get my newborn infected with it. I had nightmares all last night about Little Monkey being really sick and Grandma having to be with him since I was quarantined away from my house with he new baby. I think that I had the same nightmare two or three times last night. So now I am on "getting everyone better" duty. I don't know when this baby is going to arrive, but I know that I want everyone in our house healthy by that time! I foresee lots of tea with lemon and honey, chicken soups, and garlic consumed in our house in the next few days!
